Any one got a Vpad (Viable) ?

Nope, sadly mine did not work. If there was something that I added in VV, I could not do ANYTHING with that listing on the VPAD. I could not add a number, delete the listing, nothing. However I just went into VV and deleted those contacts, and now they are gone on the VPAD. So I will only...

Any one got a Vpad (Viable) ?

A Deaf person never pays to use 10 digits calling from VP to VP or VP to VRS. A hearing person pays to use a deaf person's 10-digit number IF they are not in the same area. For example, my hearing friend lives in New York, he calls me using my 202 Viable number, it connects with VRS. He pays...

Any one got a Vpad (Viable) ?

Yeah, I finally figured this out! I noticed my entries from VV were there but no phone numbers with them. But I can add new entries on the VPAD and they are there. Only problem is I can't delete/change the old entries so I have some blank ones in my address book on VPAD. I haven't used VV...

No one in Texas wants to hire an interpreter!

The first link I gave says the following qualifies as visually disabled in Texas and may get a red card: It does not say whether this person is driver or passenger. I would assume anyone who meets the above visual criteria may get the card.

I found some graphs showing normal human hearing treshold.

Wow, sounds like your audiologist is trained to the Spondee words as much as the rest of us! If I had heard "a all" I probably would have said "baseball" just because I know that word is on the list. I guess your audiologist expected you to say "baseball" so he or she wrote that down when you...

No one in Texas wants to hire an interpreter!

I've never heard of it in other states, I know Virginia and Maryland don't have it. But it's definitely available in Texas! Apparently the rules say that if a parking lot has blue and red spaces, you can only park in the assigned color space. If it only has blue spaces, then red placard holders...

No one in Texas wants to hire an interpreter!

Actually, I just did some research on the Texas Department of Transportation website and some other places. You do not have to own a car to use a disabled parking permit in the state of Texas. Disabled Parking Permits How to Obtain a Disabled Parking Permit in Texas | eHow.com Information...

Any one got a Vpad (Viable) ?

I use the DMZ with my VPAD+ and it works great. We don't need the DMZ for anything else. I just hope the VPAD+ cannot be easily hacked.

You have rejected many suggestions, which makes you sound very defeatist. I understand that you've been through a lot with this, but giving up isn't the way to get anything done. If you want a successful result, you have to keep trying. Doctors - National Association of the Deaf Law and...

    Gallaudet Questions

It's a little bit different for HOH applicants vs HUGs. Yes, HOH students can attend NSP and have voice/oral interpreters if necessary. HUG applicants are not allowed these accommodations, it is expected that if you come to Gallaudet, you already have conversational fluency. They give an ASL...

    Interpreter jobs-deaf issuies

I apologize for my initial reaction, it was a little emotional. You're quite right to think of your own struggle, but do remember that everyone is different. I can carry on a conversation with my back turned when I am wearing my hearing aids; as you said, if someone can demonstrate their...

Why does it matter if the terp is wearing hearing aids, as long as they hear equivalent to a hearing person? Think about what you said. "Someone who hears clearly without hearing aids." What difference does it make if they DO or DON'T wear them as long as they HEAR CLEARLY? I'd like to point...

    iPhone 3G - more questions

I think you have to sign up with voice/data plan and then submit the form to AT&T to have it converted to TAP plan. I don't think you can sign up with TAP plan right away. Here is what it says on the AT&T website:

Just got my VPAD+ today and I am so excited! Can't wait to take it home and try it out. Works great here at Gallaudet. YAY!!

    Interpreter jobs-deaf issuies

There are HOH terps out there. I am one. I personally know at least six more. I am going to get flamed for saying this, but it's not up to the deaf client to judge a HOH terp. It is the terp's responsibility to know if they are capable of doing the job. If they are, then they are equally...

    Gallaudet Questions

I'm answering your questions from the perspective of a HUG applicant. I lost my hearing one month before I applied to Gallaudet. I was planning to go there anyway, I have been signing my whole life. But one month before I applied, I had a scuba diving accident and lost partial hearing. I was...
