    Letter to a Deaf

I don't know where to post this. Admin can change it wherever he wants if it's not the right place... It's a small text I wrote. Spanish version can be found here- http://www.cultura-sorda.eu/resources/Gauthier_carta_a_un_sordo_2010.pdf Comments are welcome. Letter to a Deaf. The other...

    Deaf and mute

I'm referring LSA (Lengua de Señas Argentina, Argentine Sign language) And, as well stated KristinaB, that's also our sign for INTERPRETER. ASLpro has the same.

    Deaf and mute

I'll try to research on it, but I bet (because it happened with a lot of other signs, like INTERPRETER, for instance) that our DEAF-MUTE sign comes from your DEAF sign. Ok. Just checked ASLpro for DEAF, and if its correct, our signing for DEAF-MUTE is that exactly, except that we touch the...

    Two Questions On Fingerspelling Difficulties

Looked up for papers about it, and found that Pure insanity, btw. Boys actually learned things using that method. Incredible.

    Snubbing the Deaf community?

Another fantastic thread. I love these threads. I hate to seem obsequious, but... I love to defend facts. It's natural, inherit to the human race, to classify things. The science of classification its called taxonomy. We classify from stones, passing through plants, animals and most of the...

    Deaf and mute

This thread turned to be a fantastic place for discussing and sharing opinions. I'v recently read a couple of papers about this subject. I also think all the time about the labels and words I use to define things/ppl. In response in a website about deaf culture, to a Dr. who wrote about wich...

Child Access to the Hearing World

I was checking the results, and i'm glad to see op 1 is winning. The fact that someone might consider not to expose their hearing child to the hearing world, is not wise. Either you're deaf or hearing. That idea is the reason of the status quo ideology regarding the deaf culture in the world...

Child Access to the Hearing World

oh..! thanks lighthouse then i got it right. i just... didnt make myself clear :cool2: I wanted to imply that my decission as father, would be to rise my children as hearing if its the case, or deaf if its the case. I assume either im a deaf or hearing parent, that would be the way to...

Child Access to the Hearing World

 I'm not deaf, but i'll still vote in a simbolic way, so you can catch my thinking... If i'd had a deaf son, my (future) child will be exposed to the Deaf world (SL education). Eventually, they'd learn to write and read.

    Tell me about this...

ok... i understand both points.. it wouldnt be just a day, CBJ, it would be actually, a whole separated program aimed to Deaf... imagine you go to church and you have different rooms of languages... where the attending are having the same program (in english, spanish, deutch... SL) the room of...

    Tell me about this...

...please- So... lets say, no matter the church/religion/group you attend to, they start to have meetings conducted or lead only in SL... there's no oral teaching. Now, they let everone know that all hearies should sign ALWAYS... no more talk. The reason of that would something like "for a Deaf...
