    just a little reminder...

You reminded me of my sweet baby, Cheyenne, who went to kitty-cat heaven 10 years ago. Still trying to get over losing her.:tears:

Why is it so hard to find signing partners

I am willing to sign with anyone. I'm sorry Savvi that I don't live closer, or I would meet up with you. (FYI, I'm in NYC. The DPHH closed last year.) I am on oovoo. You can PM me or just ask and I'll provide the information.

DeafNation Expo New York -- Sat Sept 24 Queens NY

OMG! I was there on Saturday. It was so hot and I sweat so much, the color of my tee-shirt changed. I was crowded and so hot, I wasn't able to stay long. I did see a few people I thought I knew (I didn't :giggle:), brought some holiday cards and found out about an ASL week next summer. I...

Why is it so hard to find signing partners

Does your cell phone have a camera? You could email a brief and one-sided conversation and wait for an answer. If you had a camera on your computer, I would practice with you. I was assigned a practice partner at school and she has NEVER shown up at the scheduled time. I once waited online...

    Deaf Groupies???

I saw that! Don't remember where, but I thought it was creepy too. I hope I'm not thought of as a Deaf Groupie. I've loved ASL since childhood and discovered it was the only foreign language I was good at. I just want to learn and improve. Learn Deaf Culture, ASL, everything... or as much...

    Confession Time :)

I know I'm dull and boring and my family is only being kind when they say I'm not. I've had 3 ex-boyfriends tell me the sight of my face made them want to vomit. (Lucky me!)

    Learning ASL

I agree that classes and ASL social events are the best. You may not understand everything at first, but with practice, you'll get better.

    Boy do I feel stupid

I'd like to get one of those. The beauty of being human is that we all make mistakes. My sister once left the toaster oven on and went to work. By the time I got home, the house was hotter than hell (it was spring), smoke was filling up the kitchen, the smoke alarm was on and I thought...

Anyone tried sign lagcc or sign language center in NYC?

Don't you have to be enrolled at LaGuardia to go to the lagcc? Currently, I'm taking classes at SLC; I like them. It's a relaxed, somewhat conversational atmosphere.

    Question for Intrepreters

Mountain Man, I was just kidding. The Intrepreters Program seems so difficult and so daunting, I am almost afraid to try. But, if I don't try, I'll never know. I have a year before I can even apply, so, I'm studying, practicing, talking to a few Deaf teachers/friends and volunteering at a...

    Question for Intrepreters

Hi. I'm currently studying ASL with the hopes of becoming an intrepreter. There is only one school in NYC to obtain the proper education to become an intrepreter, so you can guess that the competition is stiff. Could you please tell me... 1) How many years of ASL study you took...
