    Hoh child of hearing parents.

Yep it can. Sorry i wasnt clear. I know one problem people have with the CI is having a super invasive surgery on babies. BAHA is lesd invasive and the surgery cant be performed until age 5 minimum. Younger children (and even older i tried it with a headband pre surgery) can still benefit from...

    New mom to deaf/hoh baby

You are so right sorry. My ASL professor actually works for CSDB. She is an ECE home coordinator and works with kiddos and their families from birth to age 3 from Arapahoe County. I can't begin to tell you how great she is. I grew up in the mountains so there was no Deaf program there. Even...

    New mom to deaf/hoh baby

I honestly love my home too much, my dad did too. What I did do for high school is move down to the Denver area to live with my mom and intend a public school with 3 "magnet" schools in the district for all Deaf/HoH kids to go to, although in my high school of 2000 kids only 3 were Deaf/HoH 1...

    No asl for deaf baby?

My situation was kind of unique. I lost my hearing after I learned to speak English, but obviously not in an advanced capacity. I hadn't learned to read yet either. Also keep in mind this happened in like 1993-1994. I wasn't a candidate for CI because I was deafened by a major temporal bone...

    Judgmental....much?

So true. I had a problem with addiction. I got a spinal cord injury (I had damaged my back in the car accident by a drunk driver that I was in at age 6 and my step dad was killed in, which made me Deaf) but anyway I was in and out of a wheelchair with flair ups and low and behold I got into...

Welcome! I saw your profile post and posted there. Hope that's okay! Anyway I'm HoH too. I'm severely Deaf after a car accident when I was 5. No asl for deaf baby?

Ohhhhh that makes more sense!!! Sorry!! I have the education types on my brain. I'm with an awesome ASL class and teacher who have been working on me to get my cued speech and signed English to turn into ASL. It's been a lot of hard work (even though the hearing kids in class think I have it...

    Hearing person learning asl

Welcome! Just remember you're entering the Deaf community's world at these events, so try to educate yourself before hand on the social norms. It might help your anxiety! Learn phrases in ASL like "Nice to meet you" "Hi my name is ____" "I am hearing, sorry I don't know ASL but am learning"...

Deaf Identity When You're Not Deaf

I'm severely Deaf. It's hearing loss in the 70-90 decibel range. It goes mild, moderate, severe, profound. The OP is not using it as an adjective rather describing the technical term for her/his hearing loss.
