    Bluetooth ci solutions

AB has something in the works but for the time being the ComPilot is being offered with Naida CIs. Cochlear teamed up with Apple for the N7 so no streaming device needed, iPhone, iPad will work directly with the N7's. Med-El, I have no idea.

Do you feel embarrassed when wearing hearing aids?

nah. I always liked to pick out fun colors and decorate them. I'm deaf, might as well have fun with it!

I know our city cops and sheriffs have been keeping busy, crowd patrol at the downtown festival, speed traps everywhere. I haven't been out today so I have no idea whats been happening.

Solar eclipse on aug 21, 2017

I'm in the path of totality. My town is totally booked, even public lands have been reserved/rented. O_o So glad I don't work for Walmart anymore, I sure don't want to deal with the chaos and insanity there.

    Three cochlear implant brands

I'm sure you'll be happy with whichever one you choose. It's all a matter of preference, what you want out of the implant(s), accessory options, waterproof options, etc. Each brands have their pros and cons. I have a friend that is getting an implant soon (next week) and at first she thought...

    Ci surgery side affects?

I've had the headaches, but I always figured it was the brain being overworked trying to make sense of everything. Turning off for a while helped with that. I always paid attention to the magnet strength after activation, making sure there was enough to keep the headpiece on but not too strong...

    Annoyed

oh god. makes me think of when I got hired at Safeway to work in the deli. I explained to the manager that I was deaf and could not use the phone.... and he honestly expected me to answer the deli phone. ...... dude.... really? How many times do I have to explain it? Even in his office, during...

Has anyone read this new study?

this so-called research sounds like AGBell propaganda to me. Anything that's all pro-speech/oral anti-ASL/signs = AGBell push. Tsk.

    Coclear implant question

It does help if you have an understand of sounds and language, and if you have worn hearing aids to keep the nerves working. I have a friend who was born deaf (premie), but because she (and her twin bro) wore hearing aids all her life and trained herself to understand what she is hearing, I...

    Backwards compatibility: cochlear implants

For AB: those using the original internal devices (from 80s/90s) cannot use newer processors beyond the Harmony. As long as one has one of the current internal implants available, they should be good to go for a long time.

    Ci and medicare.....question.

Yes, Medicare's criteria is definitely stricter. If I remember right, have to score 40% or worse on speech recognition/HINT to qualify. also, Medicare will cover 80% of the agreed total cost, so you either will have to pay the remaining 20% yourself or have secondary insurance to cover that 20%.

    Poll of all polls

adding to this. I lost my hearing at age 2, in 1987. It took quite some time before my parents could find an audiologist that could properly assess my hearing loss levels in such a young child. I was almost 3 when I finally got my first set of hearing aids. There was a lot of driving around to...
