What did you learn today? Part II

Ambidextrous! My grandfather was... but not by choice. He was originally left handed but as a school boy was forced to learn right handed. He could still write with both hands as far as I know/remember.

What did you learn today? Part II

Nothing to be ashamed of. An interesting case... my father is left handed... but he does quite a few things right handed including bowling. He once told me that he knew he COULD bowl left handed but for some reason his brain just didn't know what to do and couldn't picture it. It's the same...

What are you thinking about? Part VIII

Yes I know. I'd look in my emails to verify exactly what kind but obviously yes it did have basic tracking mechanism- I couldn't remember if it included more than that- that's what I was getting at. I think I've deleted them since March.

What did you learn today? Part II

I always find this interesting. Maybe it's because I had bifocals since 2- I never had problems getting used to it... switching to progressives AND trifocals didn't bother me at all. Maybe a day or two to adjust vision wise. Both mom and aunt had a lot of trouble with the progressives- one...

What did you learn today? Part II

Yep....I had serious cataracts going on (Rubella)- so multiple surgeries for that then the glasses. I always wonder what my vision was like before the surgeries (I can't remember anything prior to the age of 3 or 4) but do know what the vision was like after the surgeries and before the...

    Public access to accessible communications/technology

I was going to suggest Video Relay Services until I realized you said computer labs. At least for vision, allow the user to be able to adjust font sizes and/or color theme (maybe only a way to toggle high contrast and the normal desktop theme- you don't want a zillion themes lol). There...

What are you thinking about? Part VIII

We did...hmm I don't remember if it was 'informed delivery' or just delivery notification but it was for the USPS. When my parents sent out a box to Utah, Dad signed up for it (and signed me up too)...it was pretty good though the delivery date told to mom and the actual delivery date (some 2...

A Thread About Absolutely Nothing! Part III

I do! Or used to. Haven't watched it in years. I usually forget to watch anything on TV these days lol.

What did you learn today? Part II

If you do fail, they'll make you go get a letter from your eye doc to certify that yes you're still able to drive. I always have to- I'm fine for driving just that I fail their stupid tiny symbols test every single time. Oh yes.. I don't know about other DMVs but the one in SC will not accept...

What are you thinking about? Part VIII

Yep. I even do gift cards via online and send via email (just did one for a friend's anniversary)... or hand physical cards to people. Though it is nice to get something in the physical mail other than bills, catalogs, stupid flyers once in a while :).

    Person Below Me

Welllllllll... I hit something but it wasn't 'debris' or an animal (thank god). (and not it wasn't a human either...whew). TPBM- are you a creature of habit when it comes to meal times (any or all 3) and what you eat? Or do you switch it up regularly?

    Person Below Me

Closest I've been to a ship is a boat (or canoe... I don't remember) or a ferry lol. Would love to go on a ship. TPBM- ever taken a train trip longer than 2 hours?

A Thread About Absolutely Nothing! Part III

Well at the rate FB is going, the forum (in general any forum) may rise again or even G+. I have one friend leaving FB because they blew off her report of a very inappropriate post (I don't recall what it was- hate speech likely) and saw nothing wrong with it. I've also experienced the same-...

    Trust Purple / Z VRS?

To each their own. I find IP Relay slower than Video Relay to be honest... but it's been years. I didn't have a very good experience with the CaptTel phone I had about 10 years ago (actually I still have it- it's somewhere around here collecting dust). Plus I seem to get better accuracy with...

What are jobs for slow person?

I THINK with SSDI there really is no income limit on how much you can earn as SSDI doesn't count income. With SSI you do have to watch the income level- I don't remember how much- 2,000? maybe. With SSDI you can also do the Ticket to Work program. Like AlleyCat says- ask your local SSDI...

    Person Below Me

Buy a condo or a small house somewhere (like Washington). that's for starters... TPBM- College grads- knowing what you know now, would you go back and change your major? If you aren't a college grad- knowing what you know now is there anything you would have done differently during the same...

    "deaf" and "death"

They do sell some sort of hearing amplifier- I don't know the brand name but they're usually in the "As Seen on TV" section (or used to be).

    Person Below Me

Ahh gotcha... makes sense. Science fiction I like too. If I told ya the wish won't come true! But yes I do have one but prefer not to say what it is. TPBM- same Q "if you had one wish, what one wish would that be?"
