Hi everyone, my name is Imani, I am 24 years old and looking for people who feel comfortable talking about their experiences being Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing! I am Hard-of-Hearing myself but, I don’t have anyone to talk to about their experiences, the person that I know who is Hard-of-Hearing doesn’t feel comfortable with that so, I feel like I am alone in this, I also feel very distant from her so, I am hoping to find either Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing people on here to talk to and be close friends with, feel free to private message me if you really want to get to know each other and be friends!

Hi Imani, everyone! Everybody loves to be fully healthy so a disability is something somehow uncomfortable but you have to adjust to the new way of living. I am 59, I am hard of hearing since I was 27 and I lead almost a normal life. I don't wear a hearing aid, even though I need it, because it hurts my ears or at least, I don't feel comfortable wearing it, I get only snatches of the conversation. I lose lots of Info every day because of my disability. That's why I read a lot to keep up with daily life. I can speak English, French, Portuguese and I am learning Italian, all studied in a language school where I have to interact with other students. There is just one life to live so you have to adjust yourself to live the best you can.
