KW68 i dont mean "reservation" in relation to the native american reservations -- i meant in relation to some thoughts that it would not be a wise idea i apologize for misunderstanding u and not being clear with my previous post in this thread -- but the years when Martha's Vineyard had so many deafies living on the island was cuz many of the parents were family members themselves ie: first cousins, uncle/neice, and etc and when they sire children the children would be born with a variety of disabilities 1 being ofc deafness

:jaw: i never knew this before.. never heard of it.. Wish it happen thou. it'll be cool.

great :thumb: KW68 -- yes i know what u mean abt never know might have 1 locality have all deaf ppl in that area hehe -- today i believe there are at least 3 (that i can think of) that has a pretty large deaf communities -- DC metro area, Rochester NY, Chicago IL -- if anyone happens to disagree or know of any locations where there are high nbr of deaf ppl living in that area -- feel free to add or disagree :D

unfortunately with the Census Bureau -- they dont count how many deaf and other disabled ppl are in each community across the nation -- they only have recently started counting how many gay and lesbian partners living together with or without children/owning a home together from the last count (census 2000 i believe) and that count occurs every 10 years if i recall correctly

the island near NY state qq sounds like u might be referring to Martha's Vineyard as it is off the coast of New Jersey (if i recall correctly on which state it is off of) and is also quite near NY state qq maybe the ppl of NJ can correct me if im inaccurate on this to the location

i dont think they had a LICENSE to "breed" ideafspy -- back in the 1800s the law was not in the books banning inter-family marriages/relationships due to not realizing that when they have relations with their close family member (1st to 3rd cousins) they can give birth to children with disabilities -- any distant relatives can marry eachother (4th cousin and beyond) cuz the bloodlines wont be very risky with the inter-family marriages/relationships

Southern CA qq maybe the Los Angeles metro area qq uhmm that could be possible too

or Austin, Texas that what i have heard that it is best for deaf community down there but I wasn't sure if it is facts mmmmmm

Whoa...I think that'd be ultra cool if that ever happened. ;) But one downside to it, it'll increase slander and backstabbing each others if we all lived together within close proxmities. You know what I mean?

I totally agree with u waterrats, in small counties IE Sonoma county LOVES to use backstabbing and slandering! which makes for the aspect of having nothing better to do but say a he said she said or she said she said type of behavior role. spreading them out is best, and there is a book called ISLAY ( which is related to Deaf government and deaf state as well) it's written by the author Douglas Bullard, he wrote this book abt a man wanting to become governor of state of ISLAY, it was an intresting reading written in ASL and English verison for better understanding for everyone. BY THE WAY it's a novel, if u want this book check with ur local or online deaf companies they might have it on stock i got this abt 5-9 yrs ago was a good reading for me :)
