Widescreen-o-Rama!

That second page gave me a lot better view of how much we miss in all those movies. Now I gotta to get that HDTV earlier and gather all those classic movies and watch them in wide screen. :D

So, you were more surprised than you expected to be, eh?

A lot of people who are used to watching full-frame versions will be shocked to see what they are missing out on.

Yes, I call that a big surprise. :D

Let's see what the others would think of..if they would respond. :D

I already prefer widescreen versions anyway. Whenever I buy movies, I always go for the widescreen version unless it's not available. I see more and when it's subtitled, sometimes the words are on the black on the bottom making it easier to read.

I agree with Banjo that WS is better. I watch all of my movies that way. My parents are different though. They always moan when I rent WS versions because for some unknown reasons, the black bars bothers them. Oh well... I can't watch normal version anymore.

Excellent, and I'm sorry to hear about your parents.

I can see when there have Full-Screen, and the camera isn't movie when you see the screen move from left to right or right to left. It apperance that show us we try to look other side while widescreen is ready for you to look around.

"hey, I want to see left more! there are nude chicks in there! *horny*"

Obviously, that's why I always love to watch movies in WS. It's easier for me to read subtitles and captions on the blank bars. I remmy that my living room's dvd player got ability to switch from full-screen to wide-screen back to forth. Very classical.

Your dvd player switches between full and widescreen for any DVD movies? All of those movies? or just those that has the feature enabled?

A pan-and scan presentation modifies the movie's image -- lopping off about 45 percent of it in this case -- so that it fills a regular TV screen. A video editor chooses what part of the movie is shown by panning and scanning the image. Although the overall picture is larger, nearly half the movie is lost, especially noticeable in a film that has lots of side-to-side action.

A widescreen presentation preserves the movie's original aspect ratio, 2.35:1 (2.35 times wider than it is tall), leaving blank space above and below the image on a TV screen. Even though the overall picture is smaller, this viewing format is ideal because it doesn't truncate the image.

Widescreen 101: Are you missing the big picture?
