Inappropriate Signatures/Avatars - THE POLL

Should sexually explicit material (pics/words) be permitted in avatars/signatures?

  • No, such material should stay in the PENISARIUM only

Alex has asked for our opinions on the matter, so here is our chance to let him know how we ALL feel.

I don't think we should have the usual kind of poll because its just numbers based on popularity here.

I also think Alex has proof enough of what's happening WHETHER OR NOT HE SAW ANYTHING. It is now a basic philosophical question he has to answer and decide for the greater good of AD as it relates to the "family values" issue in the general forums. There are 2-3 other forums within AD to express your, cough....cough art.
 
I say, free choices. As long penis and nipples are not shown. They are too far indecent in public forum (with an expectation of the pensarium forum) but otherwise, sexual innuedos and whatnot-- only a child will understand if s/he learns it somewhere else!
A thirteen-years-old child is not supposed to be on apublic forum where s/he may be a prey to a sexual predators (and the parents are supposed to supervise anyway.)
Plus, there are far worser forums than this that are bedridden with porn pictures and whatnot.
 
Just because I have a "right" doesn't mean I would use that right. I don't really have a desire to shock or offend.
 
I think "Yes, as long as it is not X-rated." should also be one of the options in the poll :dunno:

I really hafta disagree. Ask yourself: "Would I want my own children seeing this" and therein lies your answer. The ON/OFF Option buttons don't impress me because remember, there are gobs and gobs of deaf children who come here without registering. Alex's AD ranks high in the search engines so chances are your'e gonna get lotsa kids from schools for the deaf and mainstream schools as well. With the kind of stuff we are seeing in general forum sigs and avatars, those schools will shut down AD.

That is why I said as long as it is NOT X-rated. Look at Steel X's avatar as an example. I don't see that as X-rated but humor.

I understand ButterflyGirl; I failed to mention that I meant less than X-Rated, too, all the way down to "G" rating or whatever that's called these days.....just for the kids. Steel's wouldn't make it at the level I'm mentioning.

I see you failed to see where I mentioned that there are a lot of kids from schools for the deaf and mainstream schools who also pass by. Want that on your conscience?

I hope I'm not wasting my energy talking to a MOD who doesn't have the best interests of Alex's site in mind. He clearly wants a family values type of place; otherwise he wouldn't have set up the Adult Forum and the Penisarium, no? I don't get the reason for this strong resistence in the name of innocent children everywhere. Do you?

My vote on this would depend on one thing: do underage people have free access to the Penisarium or not? As in, can they get in without parental permission (which I think could invite liability issues)? I have not read anything in there, so I don't know what kind of security measures (if any) are there.

Parents are responsible for their own children should also know what their children are doing when they're on the Internet.

Cheri, hi, this is one of your "HS" or "JR HS" students, lol! I am glad you brought up another example. Not all forums have those and you can look high and low in the AD archives to find just ONE that I have used. To save your time, trust me, I haven't. So now you know the answer to my qtn. Again, it isn't me as I am not a prude; its for the kiddies that I offer this opinion.
