whoa ! did ur kid use ur credit card ? it is just amazing me how smart the kids are today that know how to access into some websites that charge their parents' bills.

do you have norton's internet security ? i hate it but it is good that the parent can control the internets for the kids.

 Terri, I'm sorry that you have to go through this. In order for Chris & I to help you, I need to understand exactly what the kids did. Did they use your credit cards to charge anything over the phone? For example, did they use your credit cards to download things over a website? Can you also give us the name of the website they use also?

Also, not to be mean.. sometimes you have to take away their Christmas money to punish them & teach them a lesson not to take advantage of their parents. Chris also suggests no internet connection to teach the children a lesson so they can go to the library if they want internet. Chris says to hold on to the phone bills you got so you can pinpoint the websites where the kids check. This is how you can block them by using the phone numbers & call Bell Canada and place a phone number block on the websites.

Actually, it is a phone number, not credit card number. I am surely surprised that the kids know how to provide the phone number instead of cc #. As you may know that porns via the Internet do accept the phone number as they would charge you like 1-900s.

Galaxyangle, isn't it a time to give your kids the black coals ...

oh man! i am very sowwy abt that.. i cant believe that kids did that... good idea abt xmas take stuff away instead make them learn lesson..

How to restrict Website in Internet Explorer

If you use Internet Explorer, you can use the Content Advisor to block a web site from being opened. You have to be very carefull when making adjustments in the content advisor as it can really cause you a head ache if you don't get it right. I will post the instructions below but I cannot be responsible for the outcome if you choose to use these settings. This can be a quick fix to block a web site though.

In Internet Explorer
Click on Tools
Internet Options.
Content Tab.
Click "Enable" under Content Advisor.
Click on tab "Approved Sites".
Enter website address to block under "Allow this Web site"
Then click on "Never"
This adds it to the list as never allow the site.
Next Click on the General Tab.
Where it says "User Options".
Put a Check in the box for: "Users can see sites that have no rating".
Then Uncheck "Supervisor can type a password to allow users to view restricted content".

It will ask you for a password and you have to enter one each time you try to make any changes in the Content Advisor. The "User Options" area is very important you check the correct things or you can really restrict yourself in IE.

Hope this helps.

yea i understand but i dont understand how the ph nbr is used while the kids are surfing... even if they use cable high speed internet. i do not have a phoneline at home at all.

If I am correct, then they may mean this...

Sometimes a BAD (porn) website will let folks enter their home phone number as a way to make a payment. What they do is charge your phone company and it gets billed to you via your phone bill.

my cousin's son who was like 6 yrs old did use his mom's credit card to shop online without his parent knew... that kid was very intelligent and knew what credit card was ! that was why i need to be aware how the kids do online.

Or maybe dont let your kids use your computer anymore to learn their lesson ?? If I am wrong   .

My friend wont let her son use their computer but she put block somehow website that wont let her son use website only play games something like that

I am not sure If I can remember the phone policy. You may need to contact your phone company to block any 900s or special number.

it may seam cruel..but i am sure he will get the point.

Is same as Firefox ?

Yes some phone company offers that.

That is one of three solutions available. Other two solutions will explain later.
First of all it MIGHT not be kids fault, sometimes somebody sneaked and drop in a file what is called "Dialer.exe" It is FAMOUS file that known to many people around the world. What does that file do? It actually dials to expensive 900 lines for you, wheather intended OR NOT! Your kids might not have done anything to cause this to happen! So, hold that thoughts against kids. One suggestion is check with the phone number, if it is known dialer.exe, then you MIGHT not have to pay for it if you can prove that you have NO clue to what happened to it. Trust me, most phone companies are NOT allowed by law to cut off phone line if that premium bills aren't paid as long as the basic service is paid for. So, technically you can refuse pay for that portion of the bill and get away from. This will force phone company to block 900 calls on your account so, no harm is done.

Other solutions is to cut off the phone line from the computer and get cable modem or DSL! There is NO way that anything can dial out from computer if there is no phone line connected directly. It may cost lil more but the plain truth is it would cost about the same! Not many people are good at math, and I know it.

Unlimited phone bill $30 dollars a month plus toll
unlimited ISP service fee $20 dollars a month
50 dollars a month for slow internet speed

Cablemodem/DSL $45 dollars a month
Basic telephone service $10 dollars a month
$55 dollars a month for HIGH speed and phone*.

*you will never have to deal with phone line tied up, and that Videophone is available for free.

you decide.

Final solution is complete internet security suite, including parental controls. This includes anti-spyware, Anti-virus and parental controls.

Firefox is WEAK.... easily access into the habbo.ca habbo.com habbohotel.com habbohotel.ca %q$#@%!#$^#%^4
IE is working blocked beautifully.. problem is FIREFOX..

I trust firefox but weak plm is... block not working..

Nanny net, parental control are full of b.s. still access into... ain't working as well. I hate waste $ my expense!

One quick solution, but not always works. Go to start menu, then click search then click for files or folder. Then click all files or folder and fill in "dialer.exe" in the dialog box then start the search. Make sure it is search all of drives just to make sure. The chances are, you will find em. DELETE THEM!!! If it is there, you will know where that stupid 900 calls came from. (Generally they goes to porno sites)
