ROME (Reuters) - An Italian woman whose angry husband refused for seven years to have sex with her was awarded divorce damages by Italy's high court.

Francesco launched his "sex strike" in the early 1990s to punish his wife, Piera, for taking sides against him in a family dispute over money, according to details of the case reported by local media.

They bitterly separated in 2000 and Francesco, still convinced that she was responsible for the broken marriage, refused to make support payments demanded by Italian courts and repeatedly appealed against them.

But the highest court ruled last week that Francesco's sexual punishment did not fit the crime, and doomed Piera to perpetual frustration.

"The refusal of affection or sexual attention must constitute the blame for the separation," the court ruled.

For Piera, "satisfaction in life (was) impossible ... along with fulfillment of marriage in its deepest sense." Beyond support payments, Francesco must pay court costs of several thousand euros.

Here I thought my longest dry spell is bad enough! I'd definitely go insane after 7 years of dry spell!

It really depends on both sides. It takes BOTH together to work for long term relationship. If one side refused, and other side can't accept that, then the relationship is definetly DOOMED! It does not have to be just about sex. It could be just ANYTHING. What I learn few years ago, is that the chief reason for divorce in America is what? M O N E Y.

Alright, I agree with you diehardbiker65. It DOES take both sides to make a marriage work to benefit each other. If not, then it is indeed doomed. :nods:

True, I´m agree with you.

It´s not just sex or money but everything.

I am not saying that sex is number one but without sex for rest of life is not possible.

It´s important to have something to fulfillung is love, attention, share communication, support, laugh each other etc. etc. etc.

Again folks another liberal issue.Men cannot win in most divorce cases anymore Men dont have rights! Ever wonder why guys like O,J Simpson and robert blake killed their wives?Because they were gonna take his money and his house.
