Hello-- I am sure my absence wasn't noticed but I went off to Big Sur with my fiance for camping-- yessire, I did say CAMPING in the wintertime! It was freezing but we indeed had fun! We winged the whole trip. C and I felt that the school and "social life" have buried us and we needed to climb out of the pile by E-S-C-A-P-I-N-G! Just got back today (about 9pm after getting up 6am)... LONG drive to Big Sur-- about eight hours worth of drive from San Diego and the majority of the hours were spend on a narrow freeway (or at least it claimed to be a freeway) on the rocky cliffs where you literally can turn your head and see the STEEP to your watery grave.... Now this is not great for somebody who has a paranoia... LIKE ME... (which is now a phobia, thanks to this trip) of falling over the cliffs or anything HIGH with no fences... ahhh all rambles aside-- IT WAS COLD AND DAMP, BUT FUN.
If anybody needs tips regarding camping in Big Sur or in the neighborhood-- PM or IM me, I have all inside information of which is good to camp, which is pricy, et cetera... All maps for Big Sur outside of the area SUCK but once you get to Big Sur and get their map-- it rocks. I kept the map in case somebody wants a copy of it so they CAN prepare their trip (I am telling you, the general map book or anything that you buy in NYC, LA, SF, WHEREVER-- they don't have the good map of Big Sur!)
I am going ahead posting some modem-friendly pictures for yall to be amused!
Boy this trip was WORTH it. Zillions of STORIES. Several of plotlines goes along like this: giving a ride to a hitchhiker... (yes, we broke the law and helped a hitchhiker :-X), the freezing shower, the mysterious crab.... just to name few!
And all for 50bucks rented car and three full tanks of gas (thank goodness the gas prices were dropping!) I would say we probably spent 150$ top for the whole trip (we didn't buy any postcards or souvenirs... wish I did altho)
OKAY, OKAY, I will shush and post the pictures... I just want to siphon my motor mouth (er, hands) to somebody ELSE than my fiance! Just spent three days straight, staring eachother's faces... and we still love eachother. Ah, we are good for a lifetime (thumbs up)
[EDITED: Just a thought-- if you have been to Big Sur, post your comments, images, or whatnot here! Even your camping story can apply here. Anything camping-related posts are welcome.)
