I challenge you to find me a single verse added or omitted from the NIV as compared to the KJV. Even the KJV uses italicized words to indicate where the translators added words which did not appear in the manuscripts they were working from.

A single verse ? Sure thing ....

Here's a single verse to compare to the KJV from the NIV :

Revelation 1:11

NASB, NIV, et al :
which said: " Write on a scroll what you see and send
it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum,
Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea. "

King James Version :
" Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last:
and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto
the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus,
and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto
Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia,
and unto Laodicea. "

NASB, NIV et al omitted the most important scripture " I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last ".....

Question : What did it try to tell me ?

"I am Alpha and Omega" was never mentioned in Greek manuscripts. That's why most new Bible verions removed that - what does that tell you about JKV's reliablity?

Check this site:

http://www.bibletexts.com/versecom/rev01v11.htm

"This wording at the beginning of the KJV's version of Rev. 1:11 is not found in virtually any ancient texts, nor is it mentioned, even as a footnote, in any modern translation or in Bruce Metzger's definitive A Textual Commentary on the Greek New Testament, Second Edition (New York: United Bible Societies, 1994, phone: 800-322-4253)."

I looked at that link--I noticed the Apocrypha were included in the KJV? Anybody have any idea why that was the case? Was this before the Anglican Church broke off from Rome or what?

netrox, if you are saying that "I am the Alpha and Omega" does not occur in THAT place (Verse 1:1) you could be correct, but do notice this, from the same site this quote referring to another verse in Revelation:

Regarding Rev 22:13, the Textus Receptus' rendering of that verse had some of the Greek wording and word order incorrect; thus, in that verse the KJV translation does not exactly represent the original text. Based upon the much more reliable editions of the Greek New Testament that are available today, the New Revised Standard Version [NRSV] does accurately (and quite literally) represent the correct wording and word order of the original Greek text of Rev. 22:13, which

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.

So the phrase does indeed occur in that book, even if that one particular INSTANCE is disputed.

Check my post in Netrox's " Revelation " thread. I apologized for off topic. Please, pardon me. :D

Happy Easter!!

Wow!! I wish there is only one Bible and everything is the truth!! I don't understand why people changed the stories and wrote more and more different Bibles. That's a real disappointment!! This is how it affected people to be athiest.

Yes, God is there and Jesus is very real. I am so blessed that I saw Jesus in my dream while sleeping.

But the problem is the Bible books. I'm disappointed that people who changed to different stories so that's why there are many different Bible books and all of them are not exactly the same. I understand that we need to understand what this words mean because this words were different in foreign so they had to translate to English but still!!!!

Anyhow, thank you very much for your feedbacks!! I appreciated this very much! :)
