Has anyone here ever had to deal with a rude and/or incompetent cashier at a store?
I have met one today at a local grocery store called Winn-Dixie.
My mother and I went to Winn-Dixie to grocery shop. I got 2 things to go pay for up at one of the cashiers' lines. Mom was behind me with a cart full. I also wanted a book of stamps and Mom said she needed some herself too.
Well, this guy got through paying for his stuff, but he was talking to the cashier. I got my keys out with the Winn-Dixie barcode card attached to it so I can get a discount for my purchases. After the guy was about to leave, I gave him my card and the cashier scanned it. Mom told me later that she saw him rolling up his eyes as he scanned the card. I told the cashier I like a book of stamps.....so he took one book and said in a sarcastic way, "And here is your lovely book of stamps." I looked over at Mom thinking, "Is this guy weird or what?" Mom shifted her eyes over to one side, and I looked at the boy and thanked him for the stamps. Mom said she heard him telling the bag boy and giggling "I will tell you later"...she also said the bag boy is very good -- didn't smile at him and just shut his mouth. I left with my purchases and a book of stamps that I needed.
It was Mom's turn....she told him she like a book of stamps too. He took a book of stamps and said in the SAME WAY he said it to me, "And here is your lovely book of stamps" and held it right in front of her eyes while she was trying to write a check. Mom looked up at him and said, "Will you hold it a minute - I am writing a check."
After Mom gave him the check, she told him, "You know that lady that just left? I know her and she cannot hear very well. I don't like it when you make fun of someone like that." The cashier said, "Oh, no, I wasn't making fun of her. I didn't know she couldn't hear well. It wasn't in my nature". There was a LADY who works there behind him heard the whole thing and she smiled and nodded when she heard Mom telling him this....so this lady obviously knew he was very rude to customers.
Mom said he made her madder when he shoved the book of stamps in her face while she was trying to write a check and acting silly about the stamps to her too.
I wouldn't be surprised if he's out of a job by early next week.
The majority of cashiers I've met were very nice or ok, but this guy was acting silly the way he was showing the book of stamps, and he did the same thing to other customers like my mother. Also, it was dumb telling the bag boy "I'll tell you later. Hee hee" in front of the public. It has NOTHING to do with hearing loss.....he was just plain rude.
