I dunno.

Sometimes, one company will hear about a movie being made and try to make their own movie in a hurry so that they can market it on DVD before the big movie comes out.

They did that with the 4th Indiana Jones movie. When they announced the 4th Indiana Jones movie, another company made and released a straight-to-DVD movie that was similar involving a treasure hunter and crystal skull. That DVD was released when the 4th Indiana Jones movie was in theaters.
