I know in severe severe cases of Menieres they do that but I couldnt see myself taking it as it damages so much in the ear. And if that is the case I am very surprised you would even consider it because you are so new to the disease if I am correct?
low dose gentamicin protocol. Gentamicin is adminstered through the ear drum every month for a total of one or two administrations. We have had very good results with this procedure, and no hearing loss as yet. If this fails, then if symptoms are severe we may follow with a labyrinthectomy/BAHA combination, or in patients with good hearing and good health, vestibular neurectomy (see "well accepted surgical treatment section above).

What do you need Getamicin for? What kind of infection do/did you have.
Gentamicin is extremely effective against certain bacteria because it is a protein desynthesizing antibiotic. On standard testing against general species of non-pathogenic E. coli and S. aureus, it is as effective as penicillin and tetracycline in the treatment.
But this doesn't look at any health risks or side effects involved.
