I am not looking for reasons for support or against CI. I just want to feel pulse of alldeaf to see whether there's majority of members here are against or support CI.

I voted against CI.

This post serves no purposes other than to stir stuff up in this forum and from searching and reading your past old posts that I am not quite suprised to see you post something like this.

Like I said I dont want any reasons or bashing. Just vote so that we can get idea what majority of all deaf members stand about CI issues.

For example, CI is being spit on and frown at in DC metro while in Rochester, CI is being glorified by the community and isn't being scrutinized unlike in DC Metro. Alldeaf members are from all over world so it wld be interesting to see how many are for or against CI.

It will not happen unless some members are stupid enough to bash or flame others. The keyword here is RESPECT. That is all.

Not going to vote. I am not for or against a CI. I don't see any purpose of this thread other than to stir up a debate. I bet this thread gets locked pretty quick.

Read my posts above. Can't we just get along jeez? For once again, I m not asking for reasons or explanation for your votes. Just vote. It is not hard lol

I don't know much about CI, so I voted for the third option. Currently my HA are strong enough for me to hear good. No need to have surgery and do all of the extra of CI.

Can you explain what you mean by lost and confused? Do you mean if someone is overwhelemed by all statistics, heated emotions and heated debates to make a rational decision?

Isnt there an option for Neutral? Someone can actually be NEITHER for or against CI as that person believes it applies to individual cases, not in general or simply need more information as they have no information to form an opinion on.

'Lost and confused' apply to people who don't know what to say or stand on CI issues.

For who? For a adult who lost their hearing at age 25? For an oral individual who has a progressive loss? For a Deaf adult who chooses to get a CI for enviromental sound awareness? For a blind individual who suddenly becomes deaf after an illness? Or for a prelingually deaf child with hearing parents who want their child to grow up with access to spoken language?

These are all different scenerios in which people get CI's.

Oh, and why is it my buisness what they do to their body??? Do you also go around like the tattoo/piercing police making sure that no one defaces their body?

I am not for or against CI either, you should have add "neutral" on the poll..

Guess you re in between as in lost and confused.

Okay I dunno how I can change or add/remove option in poll. IF mods can add 4th option of "I am neutral" then its fine with me.

Nope. I'm a hearing parent who will be implanting my Deaf child in 16 days. Does that make me pro-implant??

I do not think that technology is good or evil. It is what people choose to do with the device that makes all the difference.

Oh, and by the way, my daughter attends a bi-bi school for the Deaf and her primary language is ASL. We are an active part of our Deaf community and I am what many would call "passably fluent" (meaning I understand and can communicate in most circumstances, but my ASL is far from beautiful or poetic!)

SO....judge away!

Oh, and by the way, I'm far from "lost" or "confused". I am EXTREMELY well read and researched on the subject, otherwise I would never consider surgery for my daughter. I have taken the last 5 years to make this decision.

Your post made me smile =) , Wish you and your child all the best and hope the surgery will go smoothly..

Ditto here. I am not going to judge others on if they implant children. I only ask that they have full access to language as it's very frustrating to be unable to talk to anyone. I haven't voted in this thread because I asked myself the same questions that fair_jour has asked earlier in this thread.

Neutral should have been added as an option. I am not neutral at all when it comes to language access though.

I ticked I support CI but thought about it it's wrong answer, I am NETURAL about it, as a CI user, I don't care what people think about me having CI, and is friends with Non-CI user even they are not sure about it, I don't Hype about it just correct the facts of what they heard for example they said CI makes you Hearing, I corrected that CI is like even powerful HA and I am still deaf and same person at the end of the day.

Having CI is Person's own choice. Thats why i said i don't care about other who's againist me (not that i have anyone who is!!) I chose to have CI for me not for anyone else and because I want to hear a little better. I will give advice to people who ASKS for help/advice.
