When you had been take CI surgery? Just including year and age.

What kind of brand that you got first CI?

For hearing parents or other hearing people can post about relatives, son daughter, sister, brother and other family members.

I got CI surgery in 1999 when I was 11 years old because doctor offers me and parent about sounds and it was different from hearing aids but surprised about noise...

For my first CI brand is Spectra 22.
 
2005 at 47 yrs old.

I decided on the Cochlear Freedom. No regrets whatsoever.
 
Lilly was implanted on 9-8-05 with the freedom. We chose the freedom for several reasons. First the track record of the Nucleus company, the have never had to recall a single product that they have produced. Another important reason for the choice is that the Freedom is water resistant. We were a little nervous about getting it wet, but it had no troubles. She has used it playing in sprinklers, water fights, and in the rain.
Absolutely no regrets. In fact, we are currently fighting to get her other ear implanted with a freedom.
 
I was implanted with a Freedom in 2005 at the age of 32, and was part of the Freedom clinical trials. I have never been happier - its a life-changing operation!
 
My daughter Kayla received her implant in 2003 at the age of 2. She got the Nucleus implant and we are currently in the process of upgradeing to the Freedom. She is making great progress.

No, Kayla123 meant upgrading the processor. The Freedom didn't exist yet in 2003 for the general public (that occurred in 2005). The implant itself is permanent (barring a failure with it).
 
The implant is does not get touched. When the company develops a new CI, the external peice is compatible with the older model(s) so if you have an older CI, you can benifit from the newer technology.
Example-if you have a Nucleus 24, you can upgrade to the freedom processor.

Really? that's great and I will call audioglist soon but need focus on graduation exam then get HS diploma soon.
 
Lotte got her Freedom in october 2004.
Doing great, and started this august in all-hearing preschool.
BTW.... where does kindergarten stop and preschool start??

In USA, all children are required to be 5 years old by end of December are accept to attend elementary school but laws are varies in other states.

It is other way around. Preschool start and end before one start in Kindergarten and up.

Preschool (nothing hehe )

Elementary (K - 4 or 5)

Middle (or Junior High) (5 or 6 - 8 )

High School ( 9 - 12 )

In some case a Prep college

Community College or College or University

i got implanted with the nucleus 22 in 1992 when i was only 6 years old.

i don't remember what my first ci brand was..all i remember was it was this light grey processor, and then i upgraded it to the spectra 22, and am now wearing the esprit 3g...

You can always count on Boult to fill in the gaps. :)

There are SOME schools, most likely private and New-England style, that operate by this old system: kindergarten to grade 6 (elementary school), grades 7-9 (junior high school) and grades 10-12 (high school).

You know for someone who's been on this forum for this long and who has had an implant since 1999 or whenever you said you sure don't know much about them.
