I love how relaxing mother - daughter (I assume) conversation it is :)

The child seem to have a quite rich and effortless vocabulary.

I don't see why a child with CI can't do ASL like that as well ???

I agree with you.

The problem is the medical community thinks otherwise, especially audiologists.

I think probably the biggest difference for Ava, is that both her parents are deaf, so she was going to learn to sign whether or not she'd been born deaf.
My ASL teacher (who is deaf) is married to a deaf woman, their children are both hearing, and the kids sign.

Seem like parents who pro-CI same parents pro-oral, not focus same ASL. Maybe is just phenomenon very vocal minority CI parents, I not know for sure.

That's my beef also with parents who implant kids.

There you go - it's not the CI's fault, it's the people.

Quite a few ignorant and rude comments on that YouTube page, I have to say.

Wonderful video... Makes me wish I had started SL with my son from birth. What a pity, he still can do only 2 or 3 signs. I'm looking forward to the day we'll be able to have a chat like this one!
