I got a question to ask, since I am very curious about opinions in this great forum...

If you were drafted into the military, and at some point in time, say, at a peaceful protest somewhere in the USA, you were ordered to open fire on the protesters, would you do it?

If I was an American, and in the military... I wouldn't follow the orders, and I'll rather be shot or go to the jail.
 
I would be more than happy to serve our country no matter but just depend what kind of war is that .... for example iraq war i wouldn't support these war ... if it is germany back in WWII i would go to war to stop that idoit hilter for being murder on allot of peoples ... know what i mean ??? if they order me to go war by draft if i see that point of view war what kind are we in ... for example iraq war then i will tell them to put me in jail that's it cuz i am not support war in iraq without the evidence supportives ..

The protesters shouldn't be there in the first place. If I was attending a protest and the police showed up, I'd quickly leave. Secondly, there are a lot of protests that can be done peacefully. Most police don't do anything unless they are threatened. Secondly, the police won't be forced to fire on protesters with real bullets but with rubber bullets or pepper bullets.
 
Let me make this non-sticky a situation as possible...
If you as a soldier came to a COMPLETELY PEACEFUL PROTEST, and were ordered to fire upon the protesters, would you?
 
I'd MOVE my ass over to Canada before they ever try to scrape the bottom of the barrel and draft the Deafies.

OK if my Canadian quest fails and I get my sorry-ass drafted.... I'd throw the M-16 away and tell the commander to go fuck himself. I'd rather take a court-martial over killing some innoncent person.

Doesn't that remind of the Kent State Massacre in 1970, eh?

First of all, draftees are enlisted into the regular Army. The National Guard is responsible for keeping order within the borders of each state.

Secondly, if it is truly a "peaceful" protest and no one is threatened, then the order to fire upon the protestors is unlawful. It is the duty of each member of the armed services to not obey an unlawful order.
 
I would never shoot innocents. I'd rather go to prison with a clear conscience than be free with a guilty one. Hey Banjo, wanna be cellmates? :beer:

I guess it all depends on what they were protesting, and how much i hate the protesters, if the conditions were right, yes i would fire upon them, women and childeren too!
 
if i was chosen to be drafted I wud rather die than goin ahead with stupid draft :roll:

Personally, I don't think I could. Unless they did some kind of heinous crime, ya know.
