This is a separate issue that I want to bring your attention to.

From what I've seen - There are times that when a member creates a thread; It seems as if all rights are reserved to him/her. I want to clarify this.

There is no rule such as an ownership of the thread. If anyone wants to create a 2nd/3rd/4th part of the thread (provided that the original/previous related threads are closed); Once the preceding said thread is closed, They can create a thread. It does not mean that the original thread creator has to create every 2nd, 3rd (so and on) parts of the thread.

The only thing a thread creator can do is to request a Moderator to close his/her thread at any time.

Thank You. :)

it's just the internet.. they need to get over themselves. :dunno: thanks for this post!

Yeah, I know what you mean. You're right, it's just the 'net but there are some people who takes the 'net seriously. :dunno:

A person wrote 7 books of Harry Potter, do I have right to take ownership and write 8th book of Harry Potter?

This shows that they don't care about respecting, Is that how AllDeaf want to represent that? Interesting!

Pick up a book on international copyrights laws.

btw, what's with people making up their own titles for the news they posted? Some of the titles they make up can be ridiculous

You're missing the point. An ownership of writing a book is different than owning a thread. A book requires a copyright and if another person wants to write the "8th" part, they in order would have to buy the rights/reserves from the original author.

Where as for the threads; There isn't any rights/reservations to it because it is where the conversations goes freely into it, therefore, it incorporates different minds/views. If you may see this on the bottom of AllDeaf website; You'll see this --

All text, images, and other content are Copyright © 2002-2009 by AllDeaf.com. All Rights Reserved.

So, with that said, It belongs to ALLDEAF which means, ALL Members can be part of it rather than just having one person to reserve it's rights/ownership of the said thread.

alright guys - let's calm down with these zing game and extend some respect especially to our long-time ADers.

First of all - I made a thread with a completely different title so there's no "copyright violation" going on here.
Lastly - it's up to anybody to participate in whatever the thread they want.

Plus, jolie wasn't even addressing the issue with the lounge thread.

It has been going on for awhile in the political section, in the sign language and oralism section and the CI section.

Thank you. That is the reason why I wanted to address this.

This is just not about one thing. It is about how it has been in several sections of this forum.

I'm saying that, this is not meant to be directed at one. It is meant for the general audience.

Look, pal. All you did was start the thread. Any brainless monkey can do that in about ten seconds. You didn't write even a tiny fraction of the material that appears in it. It is ALL the members that make the Lounge thread what it is, not just the person who started it. You don't own our words, and you don't own the thread. Essentially, you have no claim over this. Quit being a crybaby and just relax.

Why all you can't just be like what Jiro just did. He did was perfectly fine with me.

I am not sure how this ridiculous topic got up.

What happened was when I was trying start a tailgate game on Jiro thread to see if anyone would join.

I started with . then .. then ... so forth I realized no one respond at 10th . so I add o to see if anyone would join, Souggy said to me to grow up, I was like WTF? I said WTF is because the title of thread said about absolutely nothing.

This is getting too serious already.

Finally, I will not have problem with anyone creating like kind of thread as long as the title is not copied.

Don't tell me about newsfeed, they are generally unmoderated one, this forum is moderated one meaning there is guideline about respecting others, guess you mods can't understand that part.

i thought you were scrolling.

in my early days 1996, scrolling were a big issue. I just learned to ignore it as people did it for attention.

but yeah, your posts had "nothing" in it

You means trolling, lighthouse? It's still a big issue everywhere.

Anyway, part of the problem with a moderated forum is that it creates a "wait until your father gets home!" mentality since the moderators are not supervising 24/7.
