Man of his word, just press conference yesterday and is now there today.
Not subtitled. From what I make of it he's just talking about the situation to the press, saying that there's about 7 miles of beach to cover. They're laying some kind of material (boom?) to suck up the oil.

He then picks up what are called "tarballs" which are clumps of oil that formed together, washed up on the beach. The boom catches the oil that washes up, and tarballs need to be manually picked up by human labor.

He also mentions that until they can stop the flow of the water, the problems are still there and he will look into additional strategies.
 
No pith helmet? No rake? Looks like the woman is wearing a sweater. Maybe this was a Hollywood production. I cannot imagine a sweater in Louisiana this time of year. Did you notice how he stares at her ass with lust? Is this one of his 'Bama Babes?

You are SO right. I did not notice it until you mentioned it now. Why is he still wearing a shirt and dress pants? He's not even sweating, must mean he's doing nothing out there.

He ought to be in a torn t-shirt, dirtily oiled overalls and sunburned from working his ass out all day.

Not surprised. He did more golfing hours this week than he did that day at the beach looking at tar balls. Where are people running around frantically cleaning up the mess and such? The same scene we saw after Exxon Valdez with its thicky, black, heavy oil (compared to the lighter brown mud colored oil at Louisanna) that washed up on rocky beaches. Except at Louisanna you have all this nice flat, sandy beaches. It'll be interesting on how the ecosystem will fare over the next few years or so.

Obama's never ending "vacation" of golfing.

Doug, instead of bleating and making personal brow beating remarks how about a bit of thinking here? Where are all the activities? Volunteers? The mad rush of people onto the beach in the effort to clean up this stuff? Rescuing oil covered birds and washing them? And so on?

Where are the rush of people? All I see is Obama in a nice business pants and shirt walking on a relatively flat, sandy beach soaked with some oil and tarballs talking, squating, pointing fingers, and picking up a tarball or two. Where are the dead, dying and shocked oil stained birds all over the place? It took him 38 days just to pickup a tarball or two. People keep mentioning this spill as being worse than the Exxon Valdez. How is it worse other than the number of gallons of oil spilled? You know that the Exxon Valdez' oil was the black, thick, heavy oil versus BP's lighter, mud-brown oil which is washing mostly up on flat sand beaches and not the rocky kind seen in Alaska?

This makes me question the media. Are they purposely trying to minimize the damaging image for Obama's sake and make it not so serious? Or is it really that serious that the media are not telling us?

Well...Obama took "full responsibility"...or he finally said he did...the other day.....maybe did his good deed for the day, picked up one tar ball and talked about it....

Your comment on amount of days is somewhat overstating the fact that this oil had not made landfall until recently. He could have done like Bush, and surveyed the damage from AF-One.

As for the lack of volunteers, I do find that troubling. Alaska is not exactly a high polulation area. They had a much higher response. This has not been a rating bonanza for Obama. He has goofed here.

Now to the MSM comment...speculation is not your strongest card, is it? I figure all the talking heads at FoxesNews will develop a systematic attack plan soon enough. Be patient.
 
Obama did not say one word about all the wildlife that are dying from the damn oil spill! But he will have fund raiser, $17,000 for a dinner plate and have the most expensive caviar on the menu! He only care about how animals taste !

Obama is just a human and he does make mistake in anytime like G.W. Bush did. :aw:

Why do you think Carville, some Democratic Congress members, MSM talking heads and such were screaming at Obama to do something instead of looking like he's not doing anything? All they heard from him is the constantly complaining and pointing of fingers and then he runs off to do some golfing, attend funding raising campaign event, a little mini-"vacation" and so on.

Foxnews doesn't need to do anything. Obama is doing enough already.
